In group D match of T20 World Cup 2012, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 13 runs in a fierce encounter played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Imran Nazir and Mohammad Hafeez provided a good start but the real star for Pakistan was Nasir Jamshed who scored 50 in 27 balls thereby helping Pakistan post a good total of 177/6 in 20 overs.

New Zealand started superbly and scored 53 for the first wicket stand. But two quick wickets reduced them to 54/2. All eyes were on star of previous match B McCullum who did got a start but failed to capitalize and was out for 32 in 31 balls. With his wicket, Pakistan came back in the game and got wickets at regular intervals. Finally Pakistan kept the nerves and clinched a 13 run victory.
