In the 7th match of T20 World Cup, South Africa defeated Sri Lanka in a rain-curtailed match by 32 runs to gain the top position in Group C.

AB De Villiers’ 13-ball 30 helped South Africa post 78/4 in 7 overs. In reply, the Sri Lankans could manage just 46/5 in 7 overs thereby loosing the match by 32 runs.

In the 4th match of T20 World Cup 2012, South Africa registered a comprehensive 10-wicket win over Zimbabwe at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. With two defeats of two matches, Zimbabwe have been knocked out of the World Twenty20 Championship.

Earlier, Jacques Kallis took four wickets to restrict Zimbabwe to 93 for eight and then South African openers Richard Levi (50 not out) and Hashim Amla (32 not out) achieved the target easily.

But South Africa can not take this match lightly due to their choker’s tag and thus will be hoping that in this league, they remove that tag from them.

In a rather surprise move, South Africa Test captain Graeme Smith was neglected for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. The stylish 31 year old batsman could not make the cut in the 15 man squad for the T20 World Cup.

“We are confident that our squad will be very competitive and make South Africa proud. We have had basically the same squad together for the past year and many of them also produced stand-out performances at the Indian Premier League (IPL),” Andrew Hudson said in a statement.
